Even Argos sell art - it's not a major category on their site so you
have to put "art" in their search box which reveals they have
lots of art in the home furnishings directory, plus arty stuff in their
craft section if you want to paint your own pictures.
The art at Argos is mainly wall hangings including prints, paintings and
some glass and mirrors with artistic finishes on them, including a very
attractive tryptic mirror set that'll look good on any wall. If you're

Ebay have a huge range of antques and art available. As always with online shopping read the product description carefully, don't rush into a purchase without checking how much delivery will be.
For larger items you should probably have to collect or arrange delivery yourself.
Remember the price of antiques can go up and down as fashions change.
Other places to buy antiques and art are at charity shops. You never
know what you might find tucked away in the corner of some shop. I know
of a recent case where a silver topped cane was sold very cheaply and
resold on ebay.
The morals of this are a bit fuzzy - if you profit by spotting something
priced way too cheaply how fair is that? If you do this and you feel
guilty then make a donation to charity.
If you collect a particular type of item then ask at your local shop.
Be nice though and don't harrass staff to go and check out if they've
got anything for you in the back when they're busy.
Good bargains can be found on artwork as many people change paintings
when they redo their homes and send the old ones off to the charity
shop. Frames can be changed if you like a picture, or you might buy
a picture just because of the frame.
Books are often very cheap at charity shops and you might not find first editions very often, but you will find autographed items occaisionally.
